Quarterly information and experience sharing session for CSOs and WROs members on VAWG prevention has been designed to conduct every three months for this year 2023. In order to get a last update on Civil society organizations and Women right organizations especially Cluster level associations located in both Sanaag and Togdheer regions.
This session aims to bring together members of various of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs) to exchange knowledge, insights, and experiences in the field of VAWG prevention. Also, to foster collaboration, enhance knowledge and skills, and catalyze actions among CSOs and WROs members in their collective efforts to prevent VAWG and promote gender equality.
In this year, six sessions have been conducted in both Sanaag and Togdheer regions with 60 participants has attended in every meeting, (30 in Erigavo-Sanaag and 30 in Burao-Togdheer) The duration of the sessions was one full day, starting from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and it was organized by sending an official email to the respective CSOs and WROs, and getting their confirmation for the participation of the meeting.
The methodology was designed in every meeting to promote active participation, knowledge sharing, networking, skill development, and action planning. It has created a conducive environment for learning, collaboration, and collective efforts to prevent VAWG. The session begins with a keynote address delivered by the field of VAWG prevention, where NAFIS Network team has provided insights into the current challenges, trends, and opportunities in addressing VAWG, setting the stage for the discussions and activities that follow.
Representatives from different CSOs and WROs have shared their successful initiatives, best practices, and case studies related to VAWG prevention. Their presentations have highlighted innovative approaches, lessons learned, and the impact of their interventions. In addition to that, a discussion has been organized, which’s featuring experts, activists, and practitioners in the field of VAWG prevention. The participants have discussed specific topics or themes related to VAWG prevention, addressing questions and concerns from their interventions. The discussions have provided an opportunity for in-depth exploration of key issues and diverse perspectives.
Also, the representatives gain a deeper understanding of VAWG prevention, including current challenges, emerging trends, and effective strategies. They acquired new knowledge, insights, and best practices which they can share with their organizations, and practitioners in the field. This increased knowledge enhances their capacity to address VAWG effectively. Furthermore, the session provides opportunities for networking and collaboration among CSOs and WROs members. Participants have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, establish relationships, and explore potential partnerships. This enhanced collaboration can lead to joint initiatives, shared resources, and collective efforts toward VAWG prevention.
In conclusion, organizing a Quarterly Information and Experience Sharing Session for CSOs and WROs members on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Prevention is a valuable initiative to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building. Such sessions provide a platform for representatives to gain insights into current challenges, best practices, and innovative approaches in VAWG prevention. By incorporating diverse participants, interactive sessions, and practical content, these sessions can enhance participants’ understanding of VAWG prevention and equip them with the necessary skills and resources to address the issue effectively.
